Your words shine a bright light on the work I’ve been doing. Oh yeah, imagination! Not that I forgot about it, but I’ve buried it under so many life-draining revisions that the poor thing can barely breathe. Time to let go. In a week, I’ll be starting my first Nanowrimo. Sounds like you’ll be getting back to work too. Here’s to the crazy, dream-filled days ahead…

I’m not sure I love writing. It certainly isn’t “fun”. And my life would be easier without it. But I keep coming back to it. It is my portal into the creative state, where EM Forster said a person could “draw up something which is normally beyond his reach.” I think I return to writing because I like the idea of finding something outside my normal self.

It seems like something you love should be easier. But then maybe it wouldn’t be as meaningful if you didn’t leave your sweat and tears on the page.

You’ve given just enough details about your novel to have intrigued me. I’m looking forward to reading the finished product.

I have to re-read the list again, but I wanted to say a couple of things that popped into my mind.

The rejections – you have a better attitude than I would have. Here’s to better reviews in the near future.

I hope you and Grace had a wonderful time at the dance. I had (and have) a close relationship with my father and it is one of the best things about my life.

I’m sorry about the fiction course, but it sounds like you have a plan to fill your summer with fun, inspiration, and work. Good.

I CANNOT WAIT to read this novel!
